Located just a few steps from the Vatican in Rome, TAKO Aurelia is a sushi restaurant and cocktail bar designed by the interior design studio COLLIDANIELARCHITETTO.
The project combines an emotional approach to design with a bold and eclectic visual language. Contrasting patterns, strong geometries and unexpected materials define the interiors, drawing inspiration from the Memphis Group movement founded by Ettore Sottsass and from the vibrant aesthetics of Pop Art. The imagery of the 1980s is reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, resulting in a dynamic and expressive environment that reflects the lifestyle of the present day.
Geometric patterns and vibrant colours interact with neutral tones such as black and white, creating an immersive atmosphere where the guest becomes the true focal point of the space. The restaurant is conceived as a contemporary stage, where design, light and the social experience of dining come together to shape a unique spatial narrative.
Illum Group collaborated with architect Daniela Colli’s studio for the supply of the lighting fixtures throughout the restaurant, contributing to the definition of the lighting atmosphere and enhancing the different functional areas of the venue.
