The lighting redevelopment works in Piazza Duomo and Piazza San Giovanni in Florence were possible thanks to the venture and support of Florence Chamber of Commerce, that promoted a project aimed at improving the livability of Florence historic center.

Illum Firenze and iGuzzini went through some thorough comparative tests of their devices’ performances, and had to face several challenges during the realization of the project: from an increased illumination level to a higher consistency of light distribution over the Cathedral’s wide surfaces; from a better color rendering to the last, but not less binding, request not to add any new installation point, adopting the already existing ones and replacing the appliances.

The project involved the Government Department for Cultural Heritage Protection, the Chamber of Commerce and the Municipality of Florence, Silfi, the Opera del Duomo Museum, Illum s.r.l. for the lighting engineering design and Tecnoengineering s.r.l. for the electrical design.
